Genomics and proteomics are at the forefront of contemporary big data research in order to address important biological problems. As an enabling science, genomics analyzes and interprets a massive amount of genetic codes that underpin the workings of life. Proteomics is another important area in bioinformatics research that looks directly into the functional aspects of complex biological systems represented by proteins and enzymes. With recent technological advances, hundreds of gigabytes of biological data are routinely obtained from just a single experiment. In order to analyze so much information, it is imperative to develop efficient computational algorithms. Artificial intelligence (AI) methods, such as machine learning and semantic network analysis, are also playing increasingly important roles in computational science. In addition, there are increasing demands for human-centered UI/UX, which considers diverse user groups and environments. In order to investigate physical and psychological problems associated with human life and find practical solutions, current efforts are also being directed toward human-computer interaction and new computational methods.
